Anti-Foreclosure Efforts to be Highlighted during Community Development Summit in Washington, DC:
WHO: The National Alliance of Community Economic Development Associations (NACEDA) aims to strengthen the CED field by advocating at the federal level for programs that bring jobs, affordable housing and economic development to low-income communities.
WHAT: NACEDA’s Second Annual Summit and Policy Conference.

WHY: This conference will include the following highlights:
· A special panel on the Foreclosure Crisis including Remedies to a National Crisis and State & Local Foreclosure Fixes (Legislation & Remediation Efforts).
o National: Moderator John Taylor, NCRC; Dave Buchholz, Federal Reserve (Proposed Federal Predatory Lending Regulations); and Bill Matthews, Conference of State Bank Supervisors (National Mortgage Licensing System).

· Federal Policy Briefing: Washington “insiders” will provide a reading of the climate in Washington and updates on legislation and programs like CDBG, HOME and rural, green and energy efficient housing. Representatives from the House Housing Community Opportunity Subcommittee, Enterprise, LISC and the Housing Assistance Council will participate.
· Presidential candidate representatives discuss housing and community development. (Representative from Obama campaign confirmed, Clinton and McCain representatives invited).
· Lunch with remarks by Sen. Sherrod Brown (invited).
· Reception with remarks by Rep. Maxine Waters (invited), Chair, Housing Community Opportunity Subcommittee.
