Ethos Investigative Services Introduces Mortgage Fraud Investigation Service

St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Ethos Investigative Services, Inc. has added mortgage fraud investigations to its roster of risk-mitigation services. Ethos investigates claims for banks, financial institutions, and private mortgage insurance (PMI) companies.

'During the real estate boom unscrupulous mortgage brokers and borrowers often misrepresented income or assets, forged documents, inflated appraisals, and misrepresented a borrowers' intent to occupy a property, ' said Ed Cotilla, president of Ethos.

The FBI reports that the depressed housing market provides an ideal climate for perpetrators of fraud, adding that identify theft, particularly targeting borrowers with good credit, is likely to increase.

Ethos mortgage fraud investigations include employment and salary verification, checking for forgeries, and determining the source of the fraud.
